School Profile
The School’s Brief History
John Hilary Tubman High School is the Second Public High School in Harper Educational District #2, Harper City, Maryland County, Republic of Liberia, and was established September 16, 1957 under Principal Mr. David K. Clark.
According to Mr. Moses Dobboh, the School started operation in Henry Potter United Methodist Church opposite Harper General Market.
The institution has been located in several buildings since establishment; currently occupies the campus on Stadium Road, formerly in deplorable condition.
Before moving to the current building in 2018, the schools John Hilary and Harper Demonstration Elementary used one campus but separate administrations. Before 2018/2019 opening, MOE combined the two schools and elevated JHT to a High School.
A meeting on July 24, 2018 with Mr. David Boaka (CEO) and Mr. James G. Wilson (DEO) approved the elevation due to population growth.
